IPS was engaged by Curragh Queensland Mining Pty Ltd (CQMPL) to take over the project delivery of the Coal Preparation Plant Fines Upgrade Project. As the Project Manager, IPS had direct line management responsibility to the Curragh Queensland Mining Pty Ltd (CQMPL) General Manager. The initial IPS task included an audit of the project status prior to taking over the Project. The project was subsequently finished on time and within the forecast budget.
Subsequent to determining the project status, IPS:-
- undertook a re-estimate of the project budget and schedule,
- prepared an aggressive construction schedule to meet plant shut-down requirements,
- expedited procured equipment and materials and
- managed the construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and hand-over of the Fine Coal Upgrade Project.
The two key project stages comprised:-
Stage I
- Brownfield demolition works,
- Installation of Jameson (flotation) cells and
- Installation of the associated coal handling circuit upgrade components comprising the coal thickener, launders, overflow tanks, pipe work, support structures, MCC, substation, control system modifications, instrumentation and electrical work.
