Key IPS personnel worked in an Integrated Management Team (IMT) with Wesfarmers Premier Coal Ltd. (WPCL) Management and Staff. Our senior Project Manager  reported directly to the WPCL Managing Director. The services scope included the development, approvals, design management, construction, commissioning and hand-over of the Premier Mine Construction Project.

This project encompassed a new open cut mine and mine infrastructure, coal handling plant (4 Mtpa) and support infrastructure. In addition, IPS provided detailed planning to ensure smooth interconnection to two, base-load, power stations via overland conveyor systems. The Project was completed on time and on budget.

IPS planners and schedulers ensured that the works were conducted with minimal disruption. The broad extent of the management responsibilities included:-

• relocation of the township of "Shotts";
• project environmental monitoring and open cut establishment;
• construction activities comprising bulk earthworks, ROM dump, coal stacker & reclaimer systems, yard & process conveyors, crushers, screen, coal stock yard, rail loop, train loading system and coal sampling stations,
• support infrastructure including administration building, workshops, warehouses, support buildings, roads and services.
• site services comprising site and stockpile drainage, fuel facilities, vehicle washdown,132/22 kV substation, 22 kV reticulation, telecommunications and fibre optic / radio telemetry data links, process computer and control systems.
